Best First-Person Shooters You Can Play In 2023
Bogdan LashchenkoIf you're starting 2023 with an itchy trigger finger, don't worry, we have you covered. A lot is going on in the world of FFPS games, and we're here to tell you about the best of the genre that you can expect to satisfy your lust for explosion and high-stakes violence and excitement.
At the beginning of civilisation, sorry, I mean the Internet as we know it, online gaming was pretty basic and only one step up from playing Dungeons and Dragons in your parent's basement in your thirties!
But constant technological advances in hardware, software, connectivity, and everything that makes our modern way of life possible have changed all that. Now the online gaming industry is a multi-billion dollar one, and it's still growing. Of course, these impressive figures include everything from simple HTML games, slots and live casino games online to MMORPGs, including our favourite category, First Person Shooters. So here we’ll take a look at some of the best and most heart-racingly exciting FPS games you can play in 2023.
Prodeus
Prodeus is a back-to-basics, high-intensity old-school FPS game, combined with all the best in modern graphics and resolution. Forget about exploring worlds or interacting with other players and completing quests. This is all about blasting your adversaries into a bloody paste, all in high definition.

Escape From Tarkov
At the other end of the scale is Escape From Tarkov, where you'll need as much brainpower as gun-blasting skills to work your way through the different zones of Tarkov – a fictional region in Russia. You'll have to complete missions, retrieve the loot, and get out before the timer runs down, or you'll lose everything you brought in with you.
Valorant
Valorant is a team-based (PC-only) game, so immersive it's like entering the colourful world of a graphic novel. Each agent has a unique set of skills and abilities which need to combine successfully to plant a bomb behind enemy lines. Think American Football with bombs and guns instead of shoulder pads and balls. It has some similarities to Counter-Strike but provides enough original features to make it a challenge in its own right.
Titanfall 2
Titanfall 2 is a futuristic shooter which sees the player trying to avoid being crunched underfoot by the Titans as they run the walls in frantic boots-on-the-ground (and walls) parkour action. There’s also a great single-player campaign in Titanfall 2. The central storyline of man and his relationship with his sentient war robot is complemented by the exceptional level of design.
Apex Legends
Apex Legends was originally snuck under the radar for its release in 2019. EA didn’t want to draw the ire of Titanfall fans who were awaiting the third title in the series. But in the end, Apex was a massive success. Hero characters with personalities and special abilities and other unique and easy-to-use features added to the fast-paced, arcadey gunplay reminiscent of the Titanfall games made sure of that.
