BLAST Premier Spring Final 2023 preview
Elen StelmakhTomorrow, June 7, BLAST Premier Spring Final 2023, the last major championship of the current season, will take place. It may be the last tournament in CS:GO, but we'll find out later. Eight teams will gather in Washington, D.C., to determine the strongest. In this context, we have prepared a brief overview of the participants, highlighting the favourites and the challengers.
Group A
There's no arguing with the fact that Team Vitality is the clear favourite, not just in Group A, but for the championship as a whole. The Danish-French outfit recently won the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 without a single loss. Unlike many of their competitors, the squad was rested and made systematic preparations for the final event. Thanks to this, Vitality could retain their lead and go into the break in high spirits. Moreover, for all intents and purposes, there's hardly anyone to rival the squad.
The other clear leader in Group A is G2 Esports. Understandably, after the breakthrough in Katowice, the Samurai's results gradually worsened. However, on shooting and talent, the team can still win most matches. It's obvious that G2 Esports Ledgea is behind Vitality, but the team can be regarded as one of the contenders for success against the rest of the field. And there are few figures who would disagree with the opinion of a booked slot in the play-offs for the Samurais.
Nor should we write off Cloud9. The Russian team have been going through a difficult time for a long time, in no way justifying the replacement of interz with buster. However, Cloud9 have rested long enough while most of their rivals battled it out in Paris. And yet, the last championship in Dallas showed that so far it is difficult for the team to fight against conditional Astralis and FaZe Clan. Therefore, the maximum that Cloud9 can count on is a place in the play-offs.
As you might have guessed, the role of the outsider remains Imperial Esports. The Brazilian team has long been unimpressive with their results and only plays on the biggest of holidays. In such a formation it is difficult to count on experience, which, stepping back from the subject, is quite scarce. Therefore, no one will be surprised if the Brazilians lose two matches in a hurry and go home.
Group B
We should name Heroic as the favourites in the second quartet. Everyone is accustomed to the Danish team making mistakes at the most unforeseen moments, stopping in the semi-finals and finals. However, in the group stage, the team usually shows their best, showing a great game and the ability to keep their concentration. This time, too, Heroic appears to be the team that has the best chance of making it straight to the semifinals. And already in the play-offs, we will be able to see another cheque from the Danes.
Among the obvious contenders for play-offs we should also name Astralis. The team is gradually climbing back into the top flight, showing a decent game. For example, in Dallas they managed to reach the playoffs for the first time in a long time. Given the lack of experience among the youngsters, we can already give some praise to the Astralis. All the more so given the fatigue of their opponents, the team could take a shot and bump into the more prominent members of the quartet.
Also, we must not forget about FaZe Clan. Although the team has not been knocking everyone out for a long time, in the experience it should be treated with all due respect. On the other hand, the team is clearly tired and waiting for a rest, as evidenced by the recent misfires in big matches. However, given the format of the tournament and the latest Group B representative, it is hard to believe that FaZe Clan will not advance to the play-offs.
The obvious outsider here is Complexity Gaming. Here you don't even have to think about it, since the team hasn't beaten anyone for a long time, and will be playing with substitutes again. Only with great luck can the North American team break into the play-offs, but I can hardly believe it.
BLAST Premier Spring Final 2023 promises to be The International. So stay tuned for the live coverage and don't miss this season's final matches with us.
