Crimson Desert features a map larger than The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Red Dead Redemption 2, making fast travel essential rather than optional. Two types of fast travel points exist across Pywel: Abyss Nexuses and Abyss Cressets. Activating either requires finding them first, which the game does not handle automatically. Once unlocked, both types appear as blue icons on the map, accessible by hovering and pressing Y on a controller or double-clicking on the keyboard.

Sure, we can talk about meditative exploration that doesn’t need a rush walkthrough, often teleports. Still, for me, it’s okay, especially when I need to move between spots in the already familiar areas. So chill in this huge world, but don’t waste your time exploring zones twice.

Crimson Desert Fast Travel Points And How They Work

Fast travel in Crimson Desert is not handed to the player. Before a location is identified, it appears on the map as a Mysterious Energy circle — a signal that something worth investigating is nearby, though not necessarily a fast travel point. The Blinding Flash ability narrows the search: hold LB and RB on a controller simultaneously, or hold Ctrl and the left mouse button on keyboard, and blue circular light effects mark nearby points of interest in the surrounding terrain.

The two fast travel types activate differently:

• Abyss Nexus — stone plates embedded in the ground; step on them to activate
• Abyss Cresset — pedestals that grant an Abyss Artifact; most require completing a puzzle or trial first

To use an activated point, open the map, hover over the blue icon, and double-click or press Y on the controller. The map filter must be set to "All" or "Environment" — any other setting hides the fast travel icons entirely. Fast travel is blocked while mounted, so dismounting first is required.

The Abyss — a floating island realm above Pywel — holds its own fast travel network, with one point unlocked automatically before entering the Axiom Archive at the start of the main story. Damiane cannot use Abyss-based fast travel points; only Kliff can access them.

Early Game Fast Travel

The first Abyss Nexus sits just south of Hernand Castle, behind the Smithy's shop in Hernand Town. Stand in the center of the stone plate to activate it. Four locations near Hernand are worth unlocking early: the Abyss Nexus southwest of Three Saints' Falls at the base of a rocky cliff, the Abyss Cresset of Meandering Hills unlocked during the "Unexpected Gift" main quest in Chapter 2, the Abyss Cresset of A Hill Guided by Light north of Bloomwood Ranch — which requires no puzzle — and the Karin Quarry Abyss Nexus east of Three Saints' Falls. Several Cressets require abilities learned through story progression: Force Palm from "Abyss Without Balance" at the end of Chapter 1, Nature's Grasp and Focus from "Unexpected Gift" in Chapter 2, and Stab from the Reed Devil encounter mid-Chapter 3. I mark any puzzle location I cannot yet complete and return once the required skill is in hand — skipping them entirely costs fast travel points that pay off later.
