E-sports can also be seen in casinos
Bogdan LashchenkoA peculiar juxtaposition, isn't it? If you start comparing these two things quickly, you will certainly not find anything in common on the topics. Video games and especially e-sports are typically team sports where you compete with other players. In casino games, other players can sit at the table, but the player is always alone in the end - and not necessarily even playing against other players, but only against the dealer.
However, casinos have shown interest in e-sports, as the popularity of e-sports is growing all the time. It is natural that casinos also want e-sports in their software. Over the years, the brick-and-mortar casinos in Las Vegas have already taken steps towards e-sports by supporting both players, teams and the sport itself. Casinos want to offer more than just slot games such as starburst or, for example, standard card games. Now casinos want to offer viewers e-sports, which attracts even more viewers to the casino.
Some of the casinos have already built themselves arenas for e-sports, where it is also possible to organize large tournaments. Although the interest in video games can be seen in casinos like Luxor by arranging arenas for the casino, the interest can also be seen in the games. Today, even some slot games have been inspired by e-sports.
Why is e-sports wanted in casinos?
Casinos lived their golden age, especially in the middle of the 20th century, but their popularity has declined, and the fabled casinos of Las Vegas no longer attract the same number of visitors as before. One of the reasons for this is that playing casino games is also possible by playing in online casinos. But the decreased profit of the casinos is also affected by the interest in the casinos. Casinos need to reform and renew their operations so that they can be attractive to the general public. If a casino always only offers the same things, it will not be able to maintain its popularity for long.
Las Vegas has quickly woken up to renew the casino software, as the biggest casinos, especially in the Strip area, have started building e-sports arenas for the casino. At the moment, in addition to Luxor, Caesars and Downtown Grand have opened arenas for e-sports. The spaces designed entirely for e-sports are large and enable various events to be organized in the spaces. While various events are organized in the premises, the casinos also end up with plenty of spectators - and at the same time players of casino games.
E-sports can be clearly seen in casinos
Although it is challenging to see any connection between e-sports and slot games, because e-sports is based on skill and steady practice, while slot games are purely based on luck. Game manufacturers develop their games according to what kind of things players are interested in. Nowadays, people are also very interested in e-sports games, which can be seen, for example, in CS:GO themed casino games. On top of all that, CS:GO is also taken as a topic in games that require skill - just like the game itself requires a lot of skill and practice.
Casinos have accepted that although casino games are almost always based on luck, times have changed. Today's players are even more interested in games where your own skills and practice matter more than just luck. And in order for casinos to continue to be successful, they must also offer the opportunity for games where skill is the most important. It will be interesting to see what casino games will be like in ten years, for example, when new technologies are developed regularly.
Casinos and e-sports
Although casinos strive to change and better meet the needs of current players, the changes do not happen quickly and overnight. Currently, the number of casinos offering e-sports is increasing, and Las Vegas casinos are not the only casinos offering e-sports, as it is also possible to find casinos in Asia where e-sports are part of the activity. It is also assumed that the change will extend its grip to a wider area as well.
Playing casino games has experienced big changes in the past decades, as the role of luck in games has decreased and the importance of skill has increased. Even today, even the most innovative games do not measure up to League of Legends or other major eSports games, but the winds of change are in the air. As casinos strive to offer even more meaningful places to play, the selection of games will also change.
