Most Successful VALORANT Teams
perepelovskyThe new competitive season is in full swing. VALORANT teams have already come to Brazil to fight for the champion title at the VCT 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo. It is clear that the off-season got numerous transfers that affected rosters and organizations in any way.
However, history lives on its own, so we should outline ten most successful teams in the discipline that in three years of existence of the stage managed to write down their name in history and cement their position among the strongest.
We should make a little disclaimer as currently some teams have disbanded or left the discipline. So, to evaluate their contribution, we will focus on temporary rosters and iconic lineups.
FunPlus Phoenix
Champion roster:
- ardiis
- SUYGETSU
- Zyppan
- Shao
- ANGE1
Let’s start with relatively fresh history, to be precise, last year’s iteration of FunPlus Phoenix. The core of this team was formed in 2020 but it was strengthened at the end of 2021.
As a result, the team managed to become the strongest in Europe, winning VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: EMEA Stage 1 Challengers and VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: Stage 2 Masters - Copenhagen, and also taking fourth place at VALORANT Champions 2022.
However, at the end of the season most of the players from the roster went to play for Natus Vincere when ardiis set off to conquer North America and joined NRG.

ACEND
Champion roster:
- BONECOLD
- cNed
- Kiles
- starxo
- zeek
Let’s go through another iconic team that was in the spotlight in 2021. At the beginning of the year Acend signed the roster of Raise Your Edge Gaming that became the champion of VALORANT Champions Tour 2021: Europe Stage 1 Masters.
However, the success of the team did not end there as at the end of the season they managed to win LVP - Rising Series - Finale and VALORANT Champions 2021.
Anyway, the fate of the roster of Acend was not successful as the beginning of 2022 brought dramatic changes and after that the club did not make it to the number of partners. Nevertheless, this team made history in VALORANT, winning the first major championship.
Gambit Esports
Champion roster:
- Redgar
- nAts
- Sheydos
- Chronicle
- d3ffo
If we continue remembering history, we will not be able to pass by Gambit Esports that was considered the strongest at the peak in Europe and in the world.
In fact the roster was formed in 2020 but in January 2021 the payers got a captain. Redgar started to crush the stage. During the season the team managed to win numerous regional tournaments, but the most important is to become the winner of VALORANT Champions Tour 2021: Stage 3 Masters - Berlin and make it to the final of VALORANT Champions 2021.
Anyway, the result of the team also turned out to be disappointing. Last season Gambit Esports lost their status because of sanctions and the players continued performing under the tag M3 Champions, but were unable to repeat their success.
And the legacy of the teams still lives on: all players from the champion roster found themselves in partner organizations.
LOUD
Champion roster:
- aspas
- Less
- pANcada
- saadhak
- Sacy
Let’s return to the present and remember the Brazilian team LOUD that became a real discovery in the previous season. Having been formed in February, the team momentarily became the champion of the region series VCT, and after that reached the finals of VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: Stage 1 Masters - Reykjavík.
But LOUD did not stop at what they had reached and at the end of 2022 the players became the champions of VALORANT Champions 2022.
However, the club did not manage to keep the champion roster as pANcada and Sacy went to Sentinels. However, LOUD managed to get to the number of partners for the American league where they will try to develop their success in an updated form.
OpTic Gaming
Champion roster:
- Marved
- FNS
- yay
- Victor
- crashies
If we are speaking about leaders of the previous season, you cannot ignore OpTic Gaming. The roster was formed in the summer 2021 but it was known as Team Envy and even reached the final of VALORANT Champions Tour 2021: Stage 3 Masters - Berlin.
However, the real success was awaiting the North American team in 2022 — after the merger with OpTic Gaming. In a year the team won VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: Stage 1 Masters - Reykjavík, made it to the final of both regional splits, took second place at VALORANT Champions 2022, and also took bronze at VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: Stage 2 Masters - Copenhagen.
In fact, we will speak about the most stable team of the previous season. However, OpTic Gaming were unable to get to the partner program which put the future of the roster in question. And if the core of the roster got to NRG, yay went to Cloud9.
Sentinels
Champion roster:
- ShahZaM
- SicK
- zombs
- dapr
- TenZ
Returning to history, we have to speak about the team that was considered the strongest not only in the region but in the world at the beginning. Of course, it comes to Sentinels that won all tournaments in the first season and half and even now remains a leader in the amount of grabs.
It is enough to remember 2021 when the team became the champion of VALORANT Champions Tour 2021: North America Stage 1 Masters and VALORANT Champions Tour 2021: Stage 2 Masters - Reykjavík, and after that continues keeping the bar high, closing all events in North America.
Nevertheless, by the end of the season Sentinels felt increased competition and failed two final tournaments. And in the previous season the team did not win any trophy, so it brought first changes to the roster.
Now the club will try to start over by getting a slot in a partner program. Besides, Sentinels signed the current champion of VALORANT Champions from LOUD and welcomed former players from XSET. Therefore, only TenZ remained from the previous roster but the Canadian deserved the trust by his time-tested gaming skills.
DRX
Champion roster:
- stax
- Rb
- Zest
- BuZz
- MaKo
Let’s go to Asia where the main star of the region is DRX. Having looked back, the roster has declared themselves when they played for Vision Strikers. However, the real take-off of the South Korean team happened in the previous season when they players were taking part in the playoff of VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: Stage 1 Masters - Reykjavík and ALORANT Champions Tour 2022: Stage 2 Masters - Copenhagen, and also took third place by the results of VALORANT Champions 2022.
Now DRX will try to prove their competence in the partner league where the organization has to become one of the best. If we bear in mind that the team managed to keep the roster and resign the contract, we should expect further development of success.
Fnatic
Champion roster:
- Boaster
- Doma
- Mistic
- Derke
- Magnum
Another team that took off in 2021 — Fnatic. The British club signed the promising roster SUMN FC at the beginning of the year, and they had been building the team for several months.
A few months later the team thanked the club for trust, taking second place at VALORANT Champions Tour 2021: Stage 2 Masters - Reykjavík. But if the team was unable to go to Berlin, at the final of VALORANT Champions 2021 guys made it to the quarterfinal and showed a great performance again.
As for the present, Fnatic updated 60% of the roster and also got to the partner program. Nevertheless, the team remained in the history of the discipline as one of the strongest teams in Europe.
Paper Rex
Champion roster:
- mindfreak
- f0rsakeN
- Benkai
- d4v41
- Jinggg
Let’s move to Asia where one of the most stable teams on the competitive stage has been performing for some time. Paper Rex took a very interesting route as at the beginning of 2021 they re-signed their roster from CS:GO to VALORANT. Later the team made one change and became the biggest threat on the world arena.
The team can brag about numerous victories on the regional level. But a real breakthrough happened in the previous season when Paper Rex became the fourth at VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: Stage 1 Masters - Reykjavík and made it to the final of VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: Stage 2 Masters - Copenhagen.
Now the team is trying to succeed at the partner league where Paper Rex remained loyal to their champion roster.
Team Liquid
Champion roster:
- soulcas
- L1NK
- ScreaM
- Jamppi
- Nivera
We are completing our review of the most successful VALORANT teams with a rather interesting exhibit. Team Liquid has never been at the forefront but has always been around distribution of rewards.
Basically, the Liquid iconic roster existed only a year as the organization kept on changing players all the time. However, Team Liquid occasionally could surprise with a victory at Red Bull Home Ground #2, and also their participation in the semifinal of VALORANT Champions 2021.
Now the roster of Team Liquid is 60% new but it has become stronger in terms of the team. We are likely to see the progress of the team on the international arena, and also partner league where the club got the invitation to as they had expected.
