Skif remains the protagonist—events unfold in parallel with the main game’s storyline. After installing the DLC, your PDA will receive a signal that triggers a new storyline right in the middle of the main campaign.

Cost of Hope adds two new regions:

• The Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant – abandoned and closed for decades, it now beckons stalkers once again
• The Iron Forest – labyrinthine paths and unexplored locations.

Each region is not just a single location, but a vast territory with its own hub and dozens of smaller areas to explore, filled with quests and activities.

Factions and Story

The “Borg” and “Freedom” factions—former enemies—are now united by the D4 Treaty, a pact signed by all groups in the Zone even before the events of Heart of Chornobyl. “Borg” views the Zone as a threat to humanity that must be destroyed; “Freedom,” on the other hand, sees it as a gift—something worth exploring for the benefit of all.

This fragile peace can be shattered depending on the player’s decisions, which will influence the ending and the fate of the Zone.

The full Cost of Hope storyline will take dozens of hours to complete, and those who want to see everything can easily add a few more on top of that. Cost of Hope will serve as the middle chapter of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 “second trilogy.” Together with the upcoming second story DLC, it will form a new grand narrative within the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. saga.

One of the biggest talking points following the Xbox Partner Preview is the appearance of a woman in the Cost of Hope trailer. Despite her prominent placement in the visuals, neither the developers nor the official press releases have mentioned her. The community is divided: some believe she might be the first playable female stalker in the series' history, while others suspect she’s a high-ranking representative of a new faction.

Ultimate Edition and Season Pass

The Ultimate Edition includes all the bonuses from the Deluxe Edition (weapon and armor sets, bonus side quest), as well as:
