Don’t forget to rest. Your XP bar might be full, but you won’t get any stronger until you stop at a bonfire. Many players miss this early on.

Plan your character build early. You only get one attribute and one skill point per level, so knowing your direction helps avoid weak hybrids.

You can reset your build using the Origin Potion, located near the first dungeon exit. It resets all attributes and skill points while preserving passive gains.
