The First Berserker: Khazan Skill Guide

In First Berserker: Khazan, players unlock and enhance skills through four unique Skill Trees. Skills can be freely customized and respec'd, including powerful Spirit Skills and combo-based General Skills. This guide explains how to earn and spend Skill Points, manage abilities, and increase your Mastery Level to access advanced techniques.
What Are Khazan Skills?
Skills in First Berserker: Khazan enhances your combat power by boosting offense, defense, and mobility. You unlock them by earning Skill Points in battle, investing them into four Skill Trees, and reaching certain Mastery Levels. There are two skill types: General Skills, which are passive or combo-based and don’t cost resources, and Spirit Skills, which are powerful moves that consume Spirit gained from attacking enemies.

Khazan Skills Types – What's the Difference?

There are two types of Khazan skills. However, there are over 300 units in the game, which creates space for more unique skill sets, which, in a sense, makes each game session closer to being unique.
Spirit Skills | Cost Spirit to activate. Assigned to 6 input slots. Strong and flashy. |
General Skills | Combo-based or passive. Triggered through attack chains or context actions. |
Spirit Skills use set button inputs and must be equipped. They include special animations and damage boosts. General Skills can’t be manually activated but trigger from specific moves like a light-heavy combo chain.

Skill Tree | Focus | Highlights |
Dual Wield | Speed and Mobility | Fast attacks, dual-blade combos |
Greatsword | Power and Impact | Heavy hits, wide-area attacks, armor breaks |
Spear | Range and Control | Mid-range precision, throws, counters |
Common | Versatility | Universal skills usable with any weapon |
Together, these layers of skill customization let you tailor Khazan’s combat style to match your favorite weapon, playstyle, and encounter — no two builds have to feel the same.
How to Earn Skill Points – Khazan
Earning Skill Points in Khazan is all about staying active in combat. The more you fight, the faster you grow — and it doesn’t matter if you win every battle. Even failed boss attempts contribute to your progression.
- Use light, heavy, and special attacks with all weapon types
- Hit enemies consistently to increase your weapon proficiency
- Boss fights yield faster progress — even failed attempts count
Skill Points are automatically rewarded as your Mastery Level increases through combat performance, making every encounter a valuable part of your growth.
How to Spend Skill Points
To invest Skill Points, open the Skill Tree Menu and pick one of the four Skill Trees. Select a skill node and unlock it – just make sure you meet the requirements. After that, you can equip Spirit Skills into your available slots. Tip: Match your upgrades to your weapon style. Dual Wield focuses on speed and chaining hits, while the Greatsword is built for raw, heavy-hitting power.
How to Respec Khazan Skill Points?
You can respec freely at any time with no penalties, giving you full freedom to experiment with different builds or adapt to challenging fights. Use this to try a new weapon style, focus on Spirit-heavy builds, or fine-tune your combo timings and remove overlapping General Skills.
What is Khazan Mastery Level
Your Mastery Level determines which skills you can unlock, and it increases by landing attacks, executing perfect guards, and using weapon combos. However, there’s a limit — a Mastery Cap — that restricts your progress. To lift this cap, you’ll need to complete specific main missions or defeat key bosses along the way.
Mastery Level | Unlock Condition |
Level 12 | Complete Trials of the Frozen Mountain, defeat Blade Phantom |
Level 16 | Complete Forgotten Temple, defeat Viper |
Level 20 | Complete First Act of Revenge, defeat Volbaino |
Level 24 | Complete Strange Stench, defeat Aratra |
Level 28 | Complete Traitor Revealed, defeat Rangkus |
Level 32 | Complete Veiled Knives, defeat Maluca |
Until these are cleared, you’ll hit a progress wall in skill growth. We’ve covered the entire Khazan Story Bosses list to help players navigate their playthrough. Discover bosses' rewards and how to dodge them all!
How to Manage Khazan Skills
Use the Skill Management Menu to fully customize your combat setup. You can assign Spirit Skills to six input slots, enable or disable passive abilities, and remove overlapping General Skills that might interfere with your combos. It also lets you adjust skill behaviors for smoother execution. Tweaking this section helps you avoid unwanted ability triggers and streamlines your combat flow for maximum efficiency.
Unlocking New Weapon Skill Trees

Khazan’s three weapon Skill Trees are unlocked gradually through story progression. You won’t have access to all weapons right away, but once unlocked, you can mix and match builds using:
- Dual Wield for fast chain attacks
- Greatsword for heavy-hitting burst
- Spear for agile pokes and counterplay
Don’t forget to invest in Common Skills to strengthen your universal combat capabilities. Read more about The First Berserker: Khazan Weapons & Combos in our guide. There, we describe the main qualities of each Khazan Weapon type.
Khazan Skill Tips
To build your character effectively in First Berserker Khazan, make sure to attack enemies often to gain Skill Points and use boss fights to level up your Mastery faster. You can respec your build at any time without any cost, so feel free to experiment. Equip Spirit Skills for raw power and rely on General Skills to enhance your combos and add versatility. And don’t forget – Mastery Caps will block your progress unless you lift them by completing key story missions.
Ready to build your perfect Khazan? Whether you’re slashing with dual blades or smashing foes with a massive greatsword, the skill system gives you full freedom to craft your ideal fighting style.
