VALORANT Tier List 9.08 Patch

The Valorant meta has shifted slightly with the release of the new patch and adjustments to the map pool in competitive mode. We also covered the recent update where Tier-S agent Gekko received a series of changes that reduced his win rate, making him less enjoyable to play than before. We invite you to check out the current Valorant Tier List patch 9.08. As a reminder, the current map pool in the game is as follows: Ascent, Pearl, Haven, Split, Bind, Abyss, and Sunset.
VALORANT Agent Tier List in 9.08 Patch
Valorant agents tier list: let's start with the best agents in the game. Currently, Omen, Jett, Cypher, and Sova are the top and most versatile agents in the game. Omen can be extremely effective and useful on any map in the current pool. Sova is the best initiator, capable of gathering significant information across the map and effectively destroying Cypher’s traps. Jett remains the best duelist for securing space with the team—despite the numerous nerfs she has received, her impact is hard to underestimate. As for Cypher, he fits perfectly into the current map pool and is effective on any map. Playing against him is always challenging, and only a well-coordinated team can outplay an experienced Cypher player.
- S Tier — Omen, Cypher, Jett, Sova
- A Tier — Killjoy, Raze, Neon, Skye, Breach, Gekko, Fade, Astra, Clove
- B Tier — Phoenix, KAY/O, Chamber, Iso, Reyna, Yoru, Viper
- C Tier — Brimstone, Harbor, Deadlock, Sage
- D Tier — Vyse

Duelist Tier List in VALORANT 9.08 Patch
Overall, all duelists in the game are currently quite viable. The question is who can provide the most impact on a given map. Reyna, Yoru, and Iso can be formidable weapons in the right hands, something that shouldn't be overlooked. VALORANT is primarily about shooting, after all, and these agents can deliver plenty of highlight-worthy plays. However, Jett, Raze, and Neon are undoubtedly the strongest duelists at the moment.
- S Tier — Jett
- A Tier — Raze, Neon
- B Tier — Phoenix, Iso, Reyna, Yoru

Sentinels Tier List in VALORANT 9.08 Patch
Everyone was eagerly awaiting the release of Vyse, but she has turned out to be the least useful agent in the game. While she can be effective and played well, a skilled Cypher or Killjoy will usually be far more valuable. On the attacking side, Vyse has no particularly useful abilities aside from her ultimate, and even that doesn't guarantee survival against a Classic. As for Chamber, he can be a formidable opponent in the right hands, but there's often simply no room for him in the current meta, where teams typically need one duelist, two initiators, one sentinel, and a Controller (Smoker).
- S Tier — Cypher
- A Tier — Killjoy
- B Tier — Chamber
- C Tier — Deadlock, Sage
- D Tier — Vyse

Initiator Tier List in VALORANT 9.08 Patch
The current meta has made all initiators highly viable, with each one bringing valuable utility. It largely comes down to team preferences and playstyle. Sova is undoubtedly the number one pick due to the sheer amount of information he provides to the team. Breach has risen in popularity with the return of Split and the removal of Icebox. Gekko may be a bit less enjoyable to play after the nerfs, but he remains strong and useful. Skye has the best flashes in the game, while Fade is effective both in narrow corridors and open spaces. As for KAY/O, he’s also valuable but requires substantial experience to maximize impact. He can always provide information and “disable” Cypher and Chamber on bomb sites.
- S Tier — Sova
- A Tier — Skye, Breach, Gekko, Fade
- B Tier — KAY/O
- C Tier — __
- D Tier — __

Controller (Smoker) Tier List in VALORANT 9.08 Patch
As mentioned earlier, Omen is simply a versatile Smoker who performs well on any map. Astra has become significantly stronger after recent buffs, and with Split and Pearl returning to the map pool, she’s bursting into the meta and shines particularly on those maps. Clove, meanwhile, is a flexible agent who acts as both a Controller and a Duelist, able to lead the charge onto bomb sites. Viper isn’t the best primary Smoker right now, but she works well as a secondary Controller—though this setup is rare, mostly seen on Pearl. Brimstone is effective primarily on Bind, but his three smokes aren't quite enough in the current meta. As for Harbor, he performs well only on Pearl; on other maps, it’s generally better to choose someone else to boost your team’s chances of winning.
- S Tier — Omen
- A Tier — Astra, Clove
- B Tier — Viper
- C Tier — Brimstone, Harbor
- D Tier — __
