/As part of the upcoming BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023, there will be one more team from Europe. Thus, the total number of participants from the region in the tournament will be 17 teams. In turn, teams from America will lose one slot based on their performances at IEM Rio Major 2022. The relevant rules will be taken into account when allocating slots to the Major, unless Valve makes changes in the future.
Regional distribution of participants at BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023:
- Europe (14 places for getting into the TOP-16 at IEM Rio Major 2022 + 3 Contenders slots)
- America (2 places for getting into the TOP-16 at IEM Rio Major 2022 + 3 Contenders slots)
- Asia (0 places for getting into the TOP-16 at IEM Rio Major 2022 + 2 Contenders slots)
Recall that the regional distribution of participants is based on the performance of teams from different regions at the previous major. So, for example, six teams from America take part in IEM Rio Major 2022, as Team Liquid, FURIA and Imperial Esports got into the TOP-16 of the last PGL Major Antwerp 2022.
However, at the Brazilian Major, only Team Liquid and FURIA remained in the TOP-16, as a result of which the region will lose one slot at the next BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023. At the same time, each region has additional places for Contenders seeding - three in America and Europe, two at Asia.
