Maincast dekker ikke PGL Arlington Major 2022
Maksym ShylovOne of the co-founders of the Maincast esports studio, Ukrainian commentator and host, Vitalii 'v1lat' Volochai, published a message on his Telegram channel, where he said that Maincast would not cover PGL Arlington Major 2022.
The reason is said to be too high amount for the rights to the Russian-language broadcast, offered at the tender of one of the lighting studios. The competitor offered the tournament operator PGL 2.5 times more than the market average.
According to v1lat, paying that kind of money for a Dota 2 championship is financially unprofitable. In this regard, CS:GO tournaments offer much clearer conditions in terms of sponsors, content distribution, and more. The studio will give its staff time to rest after a nearly eight-month period of constant streaming.
Maincast is currently interested in organizing Major coverage in Ukrainian. Negotiations with the organizers regarding this are ongoing. The commentator also said that there is a possibility that the Russian-language broadcast will not be held on Twitch at all. It is assumed that WASD can become a platform, as we wrote about earlier.
Recall that PGL Arlington Major 2022 will be held from 4 to 14 August this year. 17 teams will compete for the $500,000 prize pool and 4,570 DPC points needed to qualify for The International 11.
