Hvilket av de kjente lagene i Vest-Europa vil ikke gå til The International 11?
Maksym ShylovThe regional qualifiers for the main Dota 2 event of the year, The International 11, will start soon. Earlier, we wrote about the situation in Eastern Europe and the participants in the qualifiers for the World Championship in the region. Today we will talk about the qualifiers for The International in Western Europe.
Format
The qualification will take place in the Double-Elimination bracket. All matches, except for the grand final, will be held in the bo3 series format. The owner of the slot at The International 11 will be determined based on the outcome of the bo5 match. The tournament will feature the top 12 teams in the region that did not qualify for the World Championship based on DPC points earned.
Brame
The European team, made up of players from Greece and Georgia, is having a very volatile season. The team spent all 3 rounds of the DPC league in the second division. First at DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 1: Division II SsaSpartan and his teammates took 2nd place, but then due to changes in the team, they took 7th place twice in Tour 2 and Tour 3. Brame also took part in tournaments Dota 2 Champions League series, where they sometimes achieved good results. The last achievement for the team was the victory at the European Pro League Season 2, which brought the club $10,000. Brame's level of play will clearly be insufficient to compete for top 3 spots.
11Monkeyz
The mix, consisting of representatives from both Eastern and Western Europe, made it to the DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 3: Division II through qualifiers. In the rating season, Mary_y and the team outplayed only Brame. Given their quality of performance in the second division, 11Monkeyz is unlikely to achieve anything in the qualifiers. And considering that they will meet with the losing team of Team Secret vs. Into the Breach, they can be among the first to finish their journey.
Team Bald Reborn
The Swedish team is frankly weak in the current DPC season. Team Bald Reborn did not rise above the 5th place, and after the DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 2: Division II, taking the 7th place, the team flew out of the season. After qualifying, the Swedish club returned to the DPC league for the final round. With such a game, Gorgc and the team hardly have any prospects in the qualifiers.
IVY
The club from Germany started the season with DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 2: Division II, where they got through the qualification. In Tour 2 they took 6th place, after which they improved their result to 4th place in DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 3: Division II IVY. In third-party tournaments, the team has quite variable success. It is worth noting the victory at ESL Meisterschaft Spring 2022, which brought the club $10,615. Their success in qualifying will depend on their opponents, but IVY is clearly not in the top 3.
DGG Esports
In June, the European roster of CHILLAX was signed by DGG Esports. Lodine and the team have twice stopped one step away from reaching the first division of the ranking season, namely 3rd place at DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 2: Division II and DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 3: Division II. The team may surprise you, but you shouldn't expect them in the Last Chance Qualifier.
Alliance
A very famous tag. The peak of the Alliance organization on the Dota 2 scene came in 2013, when the team won The International 2013. Unfortunately, in the current state of Alliance, there is no need to talk about winning the World Championship. This year, Nikobaby and the team first took 7th place at the DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 1: Division I, after which they took silver at the DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 2: Division II. The team failed the final part of the rating season. The last place at the DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 3: Division I sent Alliance back to the second division. The European club has not won a single map, and that says a lot. At ESL One Malaysia 2022, the former world champions placed 11th-12th. Answering the question from the title of the article, Alliance will not go to The International 11 this year, as they are unlikely to be able to cope with the best representatives of the region.
Into The Breach
The Chicken Fighters line-up was signed this year by Into The Breach. These Division II representatives can be described as underdogs that can surprise. The team steadily went from 6th place in the second division to 2nd place in the DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 3: Division II, which will allow them to start the next season in the first division. In the last part of the season, Kidaro and the team lost only to Nigma Galaxy, which indicates their level of play. They may not get into the top 3, but they can create problems even for eminent participants in the qualification.
goonsquad
The Scandinavian mix, which includes experienced esportsmen, has not been very active this year. The team first won the DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 2: Division II, and then took 7th place at the DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 3: Division I, which will force them back to the second division. The club failed the qualifiers for ESL One Malaysia 2022. You should not expect miracles from this team either.
Team Liquid
We are smoothly approaching the main candidates for a place in the top three. Team Liquid are extremely confident in Western Europe. Permanent places in the top 3 DPC leagues indicate a good shape, but the team fails at LAN tournaments. This is evidenced by 9-12th place at ESL One Stockholm 2022, 9-10th place at Riyadh Masters 2022, 9-12th place at PGL Arlington Major 2022, and 11-12th place at ESL One Malaysia 2022. MATUMBAMAN stated that this The International will be his last in his career. This fact can both add motivation and negatively affect the desire to play. Team Liquid have every chance to at least go to the Last Chance Qualifier.
Nigma Galaxy
The situation with Nigma Galaxy is ambiguous. This year the club managed to go down to the second division. In DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 3: Division II, the team did not find its equals and moved absolutely all rivals. The aforementioned Into The Breach managed to win the only map they had. Despite the dubious results at the regional level, KuroKy and the team show a better game at LAN events. The club finished 5th-6th at Riyadh Masters 2022 and 7th-8th at ESL One Malaysia 2022. Nigma Galaxy can qualify or go to the Last Chance Qualifier, but they will need to work hard for this, as they sometimes fall short competition with other best representatives of the region.
entity
The European team started its journey from the second division, which they successfully won. Entity took 6th place at DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 2: Division I, and then 4th place at DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 3: Division I. The Arlington Major ended for Fishman and the team in 5-6th place, and at ESL One Malaysia the club played with a similar result. It is worth noting the good individual and team performance, the team just lacks experience. Entity are one of the top contenders for a trip to The International 11.
Team Secret
The main favorite of The International 2022: Western Europe Qualifier is Team Secret. Puppey and the team did not have any outstanding results or performance during the whole season. A stable 5th place on the basis of three leagues in a row called into question the playing form of the team. But at Riyadh Masters 2022, Team Secret decided to make two substitutions, which radically changed the situation.
Iceiceice, who continued his career in Team SMG, and YapzOr, who is on the bench, were replaced by Resolut1on and Zayac. Representatives of Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan have previously played together in such teams as HellRaisers and Virtus.pro. Their synergy breathed life into Secret. With the updated roster, Team Secret took 3rd-4th place at Riyadh Masters 2022, and then won a bronze medal at ESL One Malaysia 2022. The European club earned $470,000 from these two tournaments. Puppey and his teammates should go to The International 11, and if something goes wrong, then at least continue to fight in the Last Chance Qualifier.
Prize distribution
It is important for the participants of the qualifiers to get at least in the top 3, then they can count on a reward. The winner of the qualifier receives a seat in the main stage of The International 11. Teams that take 2nd and 3rd place will go to the Last Chance Qualifier, where they will fight for the last 2 slots in the main event of the year.
conclusions
You shouldn't expect any big sensations from qualification in Western Europe, except for the fact that 2 eminent representatives of the region will not get to The International this year. Alliance will most likely be the first team, as they are performing much worse this year. Into The Breach can surprise. But the qualifiers for The International are always an interesting spectacle, during which the most unexpected events can happen.
