We continue our review of the third season of DPC 2023 and this time we have prepared a betting tip for you on the Virtus.pro vs Hydra match. The pair will open the second week of games in the first division of Eastern Europe.

The match at The International is interesting if only because the situation in Eastern Europe is heating up. The teams are approaching their second week, with fewer and fewer matches to be played and the importance of each successive one growing proportionately.

At stake is a ticket to the IO Bali Major 2023. We need to break into the top 3 of the current draw to do so, and our pairing is desperate to be in the top 3.

The odds of a Vp victory are estimated to be around 1.5. As for the third DPC season in Eastern Europe, the figure is quite workable and leaves room for maneuvers for the underdogs such as Hydra.

In general, it's rather strange to see Vp as favourites in a match like this. Sure, the club is prettier than UALEIKUMNIHAO, but the rivals here are a pretty good team, and Vp hasn't been playing as well as they should lately.

This "so-so" is reflected in the club's performance. Last season, Vp had roughly zero landmark achievements.

The team started the year with a total reshuffle, but it didn't lead to any improvement after the 2022 season. It has probably only gotten worse, because it's not worth thinking about the international arena just yet.

Vp have twice taken the "middle" position in the DPC ecosystem. In the first round, it was Top 4 by a score of 4-3 in the group stage.

The situation was repeated the following season as well. A similar Top 4 with an identical 4-3 scoreline.

Vp also played in commercial online tournaments, where they also had an "average" performance. This is reflected in the top-8 at BB Universe Episode 1 and the top-4 at Pinnacle Cup: Malta Vibes.

In the third cycle, Vp have already started another ascent to the top, but so far the club's performance is not encouraging. The only match against BB Team ended in an expected 0-2 loss for Vp. However, that was a serious and potentially the strongest competitor and it should get easier from here on.

Most chosen Virtus.pro characters

Disruptor remains Virtus.pro's most selectable character (9 matches, 55% of wins). On the heels of Thunderer is Undying (8 matches, 50% win rate).

Also VP picks Shadow Fiend (4 matches, 75% wins), Silencer (4 matches, 50% wins), Lina (4 matches, 50% wins).

"Genius fng" doesn't work for Virtus.pro. The pompous announcement of the Belarusian's move to the team was accompanied by exclamations that a new era of "bears" was about to begin, but so far they have failed to climb above the top 4 in the domestic league, and that, frankly, is not a good indicator.

Hydra form

Continuing the review of the match with an analysis of Hydra's playing parameters. In this match, the Kyrgyz club plays number two.

Bookmakers put odds on Hydra to win at around 2.5. Again, that figure is more than manageable, given the level of play of the local teams and specifically of the sides in this match.

Hydra are a virtually identical Vp club these days. Both teams seem to be claiming high places, but it's still not possible to jump above average.

To be fair, Hydra look even worse against Vp. The team has so far finished in the top 6 once in the second round of the DPC and not much else. They made their way to the top league, by the way, after winning the second division.

In fact, winning the second division was the only reason to be proud. There were also local and European Pro League level victories where Hydra took top 1 at EPL Winter Holidays 2022-2023.

Lil joined the team before Long Sogpeg of the third round. Played well in the first game against Nemiga, which was Hydra's debut in the third season and the only win so far. The team is now 1-2 with a win against Nemiga and a loss from 9Pandas and One Move.

Hydra's most popular heroes

Among the most chosen heroes are Tusk (38 matches, 73% wins), Beastmaster (33 matches, 60% wins), Disruptor (30 matches, 73% wins).

In addition, Batrider (21 matches, 76% wins), Keeper of the Light (19 matches, 84% win rate), Clockwerk (19 matches, 63% win rate) play frequently.

Hydra plays a good game, but as you can see it doesn't bring them much profit. Perhaps it will in this match, but I have my doubts.

History of head-to-head encounters between Hydra and Virtus.pro

The teams played each other in the last DPC season. That was a 2-1 victory for Virtus.pro.

In this encounter we expect a full-fledged Bo3. Both teams are "solid middles" and, given the previous meeting of the teams, they are very likely to go for a full-fledged bo3.
