We continue to analyse what's happening at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, where the battles at The International 2023 are heating up. We've reached the main event of the day, the duel between Team Liquid and LGD Gaming.

The teams will compete for a slot in the grand finals of TI 12 and it's clearly going to be The International Heresy. Firstly, there's a pretty epic storyline between the tags that originated during TI 10, and secondly, it's an opportunity for Chinese Dota to return to the pedestal of Valve's esports MOBA.

Team Spirit uniforms

Let's open the match analysis with an analysis of TS' uniforms. In this match, the Dragons are playing first, but with a minimal lead: the odds for a Spirit win in this match are at 1.7.

In the first round of the DPC 2023: EEU Division 1 Spirit were ranked 2nd. Then the dragons were prevented from winning by BB Team, who finished the tournament in first place with a score of 7-0. After playing in their home league, Team Spirit visited The Lima Major 2023 where they finished in the top 8.

Later Spirit played the second round of the home league and again finished in the top 2. Going to The Berlin Major 2023 they expected to improve the result of the previous Major, but in the end it got worse: already TOP-12.

Despite the "sluggish" game on the international arena, Spirit still consistently come out of the groups at the Major, and at home they look like the main contender for victory in every game. This was the case in the third season of DPC 2023.

Spirit finished the Eastern Europe final cycle in first place. It took 3 attempts to earn the championship in Eastern Europe.

The last tournament before DreamLeague Season 20 for the Dragons was DreamLeague S20. There the representatives of Eastern Europe took the top 5, which is not a bad indicator, considering the above mentioned performance for the year.

Spirit visited The Bali Major 2023, but their trip there ended in failure. The team finished in the top 12, not making it to the prizes.

Team Spirit made it to the Riyadh Masters 2023 directly into the group stage. The Dragons finished with a score of 8-6 and the second place in Group A.

After making it to the play-offs Team Spirit started their way to the grand finals. In the first match they outplayed Team Aster, after a very difficult Long Dragon on two maps.

Next was BB Team and almost identical series: Spirit fell behind on all 3 maps, but somehow won 2-1.

In the match to reach the grand finals they played against Liquid. After giving up the first map, they cameback on the second and demolished Liquid on the third. At the Riyadh Masters 2023, Spirit were transformed into macro masters. Not least because of this, Spirit became the champions of the biggest tournament of the year.

Before the Long Sogpeg The International 2023, Spirit became the champions of DreamLeague Season 21. In the grand finals, they ran over Shopify Rebellion by a score of 3-0.

At The International 2023, the Dragons are still unbeaten. Spirit became the only team not to lose a single match in the first stage of the group stage, finishing 8-0.

In the match for seeding in the play-offs of The International 2023 Team Spirit played against Shopify Rebellion. The Dragons beat the Americans on class, although they were under serious pressure on the first map.

The play-offs opened with a match against Virtus.pro. Dragons outplayed their regional counterparts with the score 2-1, and it seemed that Spirit had to close that match with the score 2-0.

In the previous match Spirit played another principal rival - Team Liquid. No matter how hard Liquid tried, Spirit were stronger and closed the series with a score of 2-1 in their favour, although the victory was not easy to call.

Crystal Maiden tops the list of Team Spirit's most popular characters. The character has appeared in the peak 6 times and has an 83% win rate.

Apart from Crystal Maiden, Disruptor and Underlord are also appreciated, having been peaked 5 times each with 80% winrate. There was also Skywrath Mage (4 matches, 100% wins), Doom (4 matches, 75% wins), PL, Viper, Slark, Riki appeared 3 times each and has 100% wins.

LGD Gaming Form

We continue our match review with an analysis of LGD Gaming's match form. In this match, they are the number two side with odds to win at around 2.

LGD lack stability and high-profile results in the 2023 season, but the work on the roster problems does not stop. It can be seen that the team is progressing and the results at recent international championships are proof of that.

Prior to the tournament in Riyadh, LGD's portfolio in 2023 consists of Top 3 regional league appearances: twice Top 1 (DPC 2023: Tour 1 and DPC 2023: Tour 3) and Top 2 at DPC 2023: Tour 2.

On the international stage, LGD fell to The Lima Major 2023, where they crashed out in the first round of play-offs. On the eve of TI 12 LGD played at the most "money" tournament of the year - Riyadh Masters 2023. There the Chinese club showed a very mediocre game, leaving the tournament early at the TOP-12 stage.

The International 2023 itself is going easy for LGD so far. The top Chinese club has lost only 1 map so far and that in the group stage.

In the play-offs LGD confidently crush opponents one after another. First, they ran over 9Pandas, and then beat their compatriots from Azure Ray.

I would like to see these matches played in 3 matches and most likely they will be. Both sides are very serious about TI 12 and it is evident from the performance of the teams. I am sure we are in for a tough match that will not end 2-0.

If we have to pick a winner, I see LGD as the winner. As for me, they have a wider pool and have the ability to play "different" Dota 2, which will be an advantage against Spirit's viscous style.
