Welcome to EGamersWorld.
We continue to explore the vastness of DreamLeague Season 25. In case anyone has forgotten, this is a long-term championship with a prize pool of $1,000,000 with a distribution of 75 - 25: that means $750,000 goes to the players, and $250,000 to the clubs.
The championship is currently in its second group stage, which will determine the playoff participants. In the Heroic vs. Liquid pair, the former are no longer in contention to advance to the main stage, while Liquid are on the brink. Overall, the match matters.
We are trying to figure out how the duel between Heroic and Liquid will end and whether Liquid will stay afloat.
Let's go.
Liquid form
We open the analysis of the Liquid – Heroic match with an analysis of Liquid's game form. In this match, they play as clear favorites with a win coefficient of around 1.4.
At DPC 2023: WEU Division 1 Tour 1 Liquid did not lose a single match, and then took the TOP-2 at The Lima Major 2023, despite playing with a stand-in. More than worthy.
The second round of the DPC was as similar to the previous one as possible. Liquid took the TOP-1 again, but now with one defeat in the standings. On the international stage, Liquid again shone, but still remained in the shadow of Gaimin Gladiators, who took the second Major Champions Cup of the season.
In the third season, Liquid were no longer able to stake their claim to the championship. “Liquid” fell to fourth place, but fortunately this was enough to qualify for Bali Major 2023, which in the case of Team Liquid, who qualified for The International 2023, does not play any role.
- Liquid composition: miCKe, Nisha, SaberLight, Boxi, Insania.
After a disappointing result at DreamLeague Season 20, where Team Liquid were eliminated from the first group stage, there was a feeling that Bali Major 2023 would also be on a minor note for Liquid. However, Liquid decided to turn on the power and play at full capacity.
And they almost succeeded: they took TOP-2, losing in the grand final to Gaimin Glaidators! Again. Third time in a major tournament this year.
Riyadh Masters 2023 Team Liquid started in the Play-In stage, as they surprisingly did not collect enough ESL ranking points. They finished Play-In with a 3-1-1 record and second place in Basket A, and then played the group stage with a 3-3-1 record, advancing to the upper bracket of the playoffs.
At the end of the biggest tournament of the year, Team Liquid took the TOP-2, which cannot be called a bad result. Unlike the TOP-10 at DreamLeague Season 21, which was after Riyadh Masters 2023 and before the start of The International 2023.
Team Liquid quite confidently advanced to the next round of the group stage from Group B. “Liquid” took TOP-1, playing with a score of 3-1-0 in series.
In the playoff seeding match, Liquid faced Evil Geniuses. The Peruvians have not been making much of a splash at The International 2023, which is why they predictably lost to Liquid with a score of 0-2.
In the first round of the playoffs, LIquid met Talon Esports. They won on class, taking two maps. What is true, then things did not go according to plan: a loss to Spirit and then Gaimin Gladiators, already in the lower part of the table. As a result of the main event of the year, Team Liquid took the TOP-6.
The new season started with a performance at Kuala Lumpur 2023, where they reached the TOP-2. In 2024, they played everywhere they could. And they went to BB Dacha, taking the TOP-2 there (lost to Falcons in the final), played at DL Season 22. DreamLeague Season 22 was definitely not a priority, because Liquid were so out of shape that they did not make it out of the group stage.
There was the 1win series tournament, where in the grand final they lost to Spirit with a score of 1-2, and the Elite League, where they took the TOP-4.
At ESL One Birmingham 2024, Team Liquid took the TOP-6, losing to the future champions from Falcons. PGL Wallachia Season 1, the team began with a victory over G2.IG, then lost 2 series to Xtreme and Shopify Rebellion, and then won against MOUZ. Finally, they beat their colleagues from Secret, thereby advancing to the playoffs with a score of 3-2.
Next, Liquid played at DreamLeague S23, where they took the TOP-10. In July of the 2024 season, Liquid reached the grand final of Riyadh Masters 2024, and then the TOP-1 at Elite League Season 2. However, Liquid's main triumph was The International 2024, where Liquid showed themselves spectacularly, where they reached the grand final and there without any problems beat Gaimin Gladiators with a score of 3-0.
After winning The International, Team Liquid played well in the first round of the DL Season 24 group stage, where they played with a score of 3-3-1, taking the TOP-2 in their basket. However, they failed to overcome the “second” group stage, and Liquid took the TOP-6 at the end of the tournament. It was no better after that: TOP-6 at BLAST Slam 1, but TOP-2 at ESL One Bangkok 2024.
In the 2025 season, Liquid took the top 8 at Fissure Playground #1 and BLAST Slam II. At DreamLeague Season 25, things are going very hard for Liquid. Even in the first group stage, Liquid passed it with great problems, playing replays and all that. And in the second group stage, Liquid lost all 4 matches before the game with Tundra, however, against one of the strongest teams, they managed to take the first victory, thereby preserving their chances for the playoffs.
Team Liquid's Most Popular Heroes
Team Liquid's top pick is Crystal Maiden with 7 games and 6 wins.
Besides Crystal Maiden, they choose Doom (4 matches, 100% wins), Sven (4 matches, 75% wins), Skywrath Mage (4 matches, 75% wins).
Rubick (4 matches, 25% win rate), Void Spirit (3 matches, 100% win rate) appear in the picks, Underlord, Pangolier, Storm Spirit have 3 matches each and all have 2 wins.
Heroic Form
We continue our analysis of the Heroic vs. Liquid match with an analysis of Heroic's game form. In this match, they are playing as underdogs, with no chance of making it to the playoffs. The odds for a win in the match against Liquid are around 2.6.
Heroic is a relatively new name in the competitive Dota 2 scene. Although the team is well known outside of Valve's professional MOBA scene, the club has been slow to sign a roster in the discipline. In 2023, that changed.
Heroic came to Dota 2 by signing the South American mix D2 Hustlers, changing it up a bit. The final, debut Heroic roster looked like this:
- Heroic lineup: Yuma, 4nalog, Wisper, Scofield, KJ.
Each player is quite famous in their position and it seems like such a team should work. At least on the local scene, within their region, Heroic look good, although not perfect.
During the 2024 competitive season, the club took the TOP-8 at DreamLeague Season 22: South America Open Qualifier #1, TOP-2 at BB Dacha Dubai 2024: NA and SA Closed Qualifier, and then won DL Season 22: South America Open Qualifier #2 and DL Season 22: South America Closed Qualifier, beating BOOM 2-0 in the grand final.
The last tournament before DL Season 22 was the South American qualifier for ESL Birmingham 2024. There, Heroic once again defeated BOOM in the grand final, thus securing a slot for the first major LAN tournament of the year.
After the first game day, Heroic are in 4th place in the group stage table with a score of 1-1 in matches and 2-2 in maps. They beat G2.IG and lost to Vp. The second day was spent with a similar result: 1 win and 1 loss. On the third game day, they tied with BB Team and lost to GG. However, they failed to move beyond the TOP-14.
Then Heroic went to DL Season 23 and played in the Elite League in the TOP-16, and then there was the TOP-8 at ESL One Birmingham 2024.
Heroic advanced to the DreamLeague Season 23 playoffs after replaying with Team Liquid, where they beat the European Dota 2 giants with a score of 2-1. However, they were unable to get far in the playoffs, as Heroic finished in the TOP-8 at DL S23.
Heroic then played at Riyadh Masters 2024 and Elite League Season 2. At the first tournament, Heroic took the TOP-14, and at the second - the TOP-11. In addition, Heroic performed at The International 2024, where they showed themselves well, taking the TOP-12. However, oddly enough, Heroic's main achievement was the victory over PGL Wallachia Season 2, sensationally beating Falcons in the grand final.
Later, Heroic played at DL Season 24, where they looked much worse than the tournament before – TOP-14. The not so rosy trend continued further at BLAST Slam 1, where they took TOP-8.
Heroic started the 2025 season with a win over two qualifiers for DreamLeague Season 25 and ESL One Raleigh 2025 from South America. They also finished in the TOP-8.
In DreamLeague Season 25, Heroic made it through the first group stage, but completely failed the second group stage, losing 5 out of 5 matches and being eliminated early.
Most Popular Heroic Heroes
The most frequently picked characters were Natures Prophet and Rubick. Both characters were picked 4 times and have a 100% win rate.
Vengeful Spirit, Beastmaster, and Tusk had a similar number of appearances, winning 3 out of 4 matches.
Liquid vs Heroic Head-to-Head History
The teams have met each other three times before. Liquid won two matches, and Heroic won the last match of DL Season 23.
Predicted result of the match Heroic vs Liquid at DreamLeague Season 25
Logically, Liquid should win this match. Considering the level of play of Heroic in the second group stage, I think Liquid should easily close it out.
Result: Liquid wins.
