Welcome to EGamersWorld.
The LCK Summer 2024 battles continue. We are still in the group stages, where the fate of the play-offs slots for the South Korean League of Legends Summer Split is being decided.
Some of the teams have already secured their place in the play-offs, while others are very far from making it to the main stage of the championship. Among those who have already made it to the play-offs is Gen.G, while the team fighting for a place in the sun is DRX.
Both teams will play each other in the next match of the group stage. We will try to understand how the match DRX - Gen.G will end and whether the first team has a chance to surprise the best team of South Korea at least on one map.
Let's go.
Gen.G Form.
We open the match analysis with an analysis of Gen.G's form. In this match they will play as favourites with odds to win at around 1.1.
In 2023, Gen.G won LCK Spring 2023, leaving no chance for T1 in the grand final. A little less luck at MSI 2023, where Bilibili Gaming sensationally kept the Korean champions out of the finals.
- Gen.G line-up: Kiin, Canyon, Chovy, Peyz, Lehends.
At LCK Summer 2023, Gen.G made it to the play-offs without any problems. During the group stage, the titular Koreans gave up only 2 series, eventually finishing in 2nd place in the group stage table with a score of 16-2.
In their first play-offs match for themselves, Gen.G crushed HLE. HLE 3-0 and now Gen.G are ready to advance to the league finals for the second consecutive time.
The Grand Final is a rematch of the playoffs. Last round Gen.G beat T1 3-2 in a very tough series and I think the final will be the same.
And in the grand finals, they did it too. And it was even easier than in the match to get here: Gen.G became the LCK Summer Split champion by beating T1 3-1.
Worlds 2023 Gen.G started off with a solid win over Gam Esports. It was fast and painful for Gam with 22 minutes and only 5 kills for the Vietnamese.
In a 2-0 basket match, Gen.G played against their counterparts, and by extension, bitter rivals T1. The South Korean derby, like the last 4, ended in favour of Gen.G, as Chovy and his Akali left T1 with nothing to lose.
Gen.G advanced to the Worlds 2023 play-offs with a score of 3-0. In their final group stage match, they played against G2 Esports and, expectedly easily, ran over the Europeans 2-0.
Being one of the favourites for Worlds 2023, Gen.G couldn't handle the burden of responsibility and lost in the first round of play-offs, Ledgeiv BLG.
In the first match at LCK Spring 2024, Gen.G will be tested against T1. I'm sure the reigning LCK champions will be proud to pass it, as Gen.G are historically good at home against the Worlds 2023 champions. Following that, Gen.G will play Nongshim RedForce, where they should outplay their counterparts with unenviable ease.
After winning the LCK Spring 2024, Gen.G attended their first international tournament of the season - the Mid-Season Invitational 2024 - where they were crowned champions.
Gen.G attended the Esports World Cup 2024 as MSI 2024 champions, where they lost in their first match, finishing in the top 8. At LCK Summer 2024, the team knows no equal and guaranteed themselves an early exit to the play-offs by going there on a 12-0 score.
After the mind-blowing achievement, Gen.G didn't falter and as of 05.08 they are 14-0 with only 1 lost map.

DRX Form
We continue the analysis of Gen.G - DRX match with DRX form. In this match they will play as a total outsider with odds to win around 10.
The team had a mediocre 12th season in the South Korean LCK. From the achievements: 5th place at LCK Spring 2022 and 6th place at LCK Summer 2022. By any means necessary, the team made it to Worlds by finishing 2nd place at LCK Regional Finals.
Such a poor performance during the competitive year led DRX to Play-In Worlds 2022. DRX travelled the longest road to the finals of all time. They started the World Championship from the Play-In stage.
After making it to Group B at the Play-In, the team had to go through clubs like Royal Never Give Up, MAD Lions and others.
Although DRX performed in the status of a contender for passage, it was difficult to single out the collective as the sole winner. However, that's exactly what happened: DRX took the first stage of the Worlds without a hitch, coming out of their group in first place (5-0).
In the group stage, DRX shared the lead with Rogue. What followed was a true Cinderella story.
In the quarterfinals, the team outplayed the reigning World Champions, and outplayed them. The team did a Reverse Sweep, which is rare at this level of competition. Next, The International was even more interesting: victory over LCK Summer 2023 Gen.G champions LCK Summer 2023 followed by an incredible win in the grand final against T1.
After an unimaginable triumph at Worlds 2022, DRX's fame quickly faded. First the team failed at LCK Spring 2023, finishing Top 9, then Top 6 at LCK Summer 2023 and Top 4 at the Regional Finals, ultimately failing to attend Worlds 2023.
- DRX lineup: Rascal, Sponge, SeTab, Teddy, Pleata.
The main bet for the new season is Teddy. Let's see if the big name Korean can help DRX regain its former glory.
DRX is in an even worse situation than their counterparts. DRX are on the penultimate place in the table with a score of 1-8 and almost zero prospects to qualify for the play-offs. And so it happened: the club gained 3-15 and at the end of LCK Spring 2024 took the top 9.
At LCK Summer 2024, DRX is not doing so well. Before Long Sogpeg 8 weeks of games the team is in the penultimate place with the score 3-11.

The teams have previously played each other three times in 2024 and all games ended 2-0 in favour of Gen.G.
Predicted result of DRX vs Gen.G at LCK Summer 2024
As far as I'm concerned, this matchup is pretty predictable. Gen.G at LCK Summer 2024 are off the chain and look ultimatelly strong so far that even Faker is banging his head against the wall. It should be an easy 2-0 in Gen.G's favour.
Bottom line: Gen.G wins 2-0.
