Glad to see you on EGamersWorld.
The final week of the LEC Winter 2025 regular season is gaining momentum. For now, we are watching the matches of the first day of the final stage of LEC Winter 2025.
At the halfway point of the game day – Rogue and G2 Esports. The match will take place on February 1 at 19:30 CET.
We're trying to figure out if Rogue can surprise us or if the match will end as expected.
Let's go.
G2 Esports Uniform
We open the analysis of the G2 – Rogue match with an analysis of G2's game form. In this match, they play as favorites with a win coefficient of around 1.2.
At the start of the 2023 season, the Samurai made it to the UK capital to participate in MSI 2023, winning the LEC Winter draw. Then G2 made it to the grand final without any problems, also beating MAD Lions quite easily
In the spring, at LEC Spring 2023, G2 Esports played worse. They advanced to the playoffs of the tournament from the second match of their group, getting into the lower bracket of the playoffs. Once there, they again played against the “lions”, but they were unable to repeat the success of the winter LEC: G2 Esports were eliminated from the LEC Spring 2023 playoffs, but got to the Mid-Season Invitational 2023.
- G2 Esports roster: BrokenBlade, SkewMond, Caps, Hans Sama, Labrov.
Play-In for G2 Esports was successful and even easier than for BLG. G2 Esports did not feel LOUD and easily closed PSG Talon, winning against both clubs with a score of 2-0.
Things weren't as rosy in the Bracket Stage. In the first round, G2 Esports played Gen.G, probably the main contender for the championship title, and managed to take a map from them, which is more than good in the reality of the modern competitive scene.
In the lower bracket, G2 Esports met their main rival, MAD Lions. The European derby on the international stage ended with a confident victory for G2, confirming their status as the best team in the LEC.
As a result of the only international event so far, G2 Esports took the TOP-6. The result is good.
Before the LEC Finals, the “samurai” took another cup to their headquarters. It was the trophy for winning LEC Summer 2023, where G2 easily dealt with EXCEL in the grand final.
In the first round of the LEC Finals 2023, G2 Esports played against Team BDS. The French put up a fight, but they couldn’t pull more than 1 map.
G2 Esports had no problem first taking on MAD Lions to reach the grand finals of the 2023 LEC Finals, and then took down Fnatic in the finals.
In the first match on the main stage of the year, G2 Esports played against Dplus. Being an underdog, the team managed to beat the title Koreans, and all thanks to the signature Draven from Hans Sama. Then they managed to beat none other than WBG, who subsequently took the TOP-2.
But then the failures began, and quite serious ones at that. First they lost to Gen with a score of 0-2, then they lost to NRG with a score of 0-2 (which was a total shock), and finally they were eliminated from Worlds 2023 after losing to Bibili Gaming.
G2 Esports will start their journey to LEC Winter 2024 with a match against BDS, one of G2's main competitors on their way to the championship. We expect a confident game from G2. Next up is a match against Karmine Corp, which should be easier than the game against BDS. In fact, that's what happened, but the match against Rogue was perhaps the first sensation of last week, as G2 lost. Well, that's why it's bo1 and bo1.
During the regular season, LEC Winter 2024 demonstrated their standard game. G2 Esports won 7 out of 9 matches, sharing the TOP-1 of the table with BDS.
In the opening match of the LEC Winter 2024 playoffs, G2 Esports easily crushed GiantX with a score of 2-0. Then G2 Esports met Fnatic in the quarterfinals, where the “orange” looked pretty good: they were able to take the map, but this did not affect the outcome of the match. Then G2 Esports met BDS in the match for the exit to the grand final and without a single hitch smashed the French with a score of 3-0. Almost the same fate awaited MAD Lions KOI in the grand final, with a difference of only one map.
G2 Esports attended the Mid-Season Invitational 2024 and showed a very solid result there. They managed to reach the TOP-4, and this is a pretty high result for a team from the LEC.
Heading into the Esports World Cup 2024, G2 Esports secured a spot in the LEC Summer 2024 playoffs. At EWC 2024 itself, G2 Esports started off with a win over FlyQuest, but then lost to TES in the grand finals.
LEC Summer 2024 Playoffs started with a fairly confident victory over Karmine Corp with a score of 2-0. Then, an equally easy victory over BDS and, as a result, reaching the TOP-3. In the match for reaching the grand final of the LEC Summer 2024 upper bracket, G2 Esports played against Fnatic, where they lost with a score of 2-3. In the match of the lower bracket, they defeated BDS with a score of 3-2, and then became champions of LEC Summer 2024, defeating Fnatic in the final.
The 2024 LEC Season Finals started with an unexpected loss to MAD Lions KOI (2-3). However, this did not stop G2 from coming back through the lower bracket, outplaying all opponents and ultimately becoming the champions of the 2024 LEC Season Finals.
The debut at Worlds 2024 happened in a match with paiN Gaming, where G2 was stomped by the Yone + Yasuo combination. In the next match, against the LCK Summer 2024 champions from Hanwha Life Esports, the tricks did not work and G2 lost. But they got into the 2-1 bracket, winning WBG in a fairly confident manner. However, they then lost to T1 and BLG, flying out to the TOP-12.
The first week of LEC Winter 2025 was not so good for the absolute champions of the 2024 season: the team played with a score of 1-2, which certainly does not look like a championship game. In the second week, G2 will face Vitality and Fnatic, and then a duel with GiantX.
Most Popular G2 Esports Champions
Gragas (3 matches, 66% wins) is sent to the top lane.
In the jungle it's either Belveth (2 matches, 100% wins) or Maokai (2 matches, 50% wins) or Gragas (2 matches, 50% wins).
The mid lane is varied, with Yasuo, Sylass, Cassiopeia, Sejuani and Yone all picking once and winning their games.
Among the shooters, Draven plays (3 matches, 66% wins).
Support Nautilus (2 matches, 50% wins), Nami (2 matches, 50% wins).
Rogue Form
We continue our analysis of the Rogue – G2 Esports match with an analysis of Rogue’s game form. In this match, they are playing as favorites with a win odds of around 5.
Rogue skipped the entire 2023 and only returned to the competitive League of Legends scene ahead of 2024. This is, in principle, a very logical decision, because in 2022 Rogue showed high results, but then something went wrong.
They first showed their mettle at LEC Spring 2022, reaching the Grand Finals of the Spring Split, before G2 stepped in to prevent Rogue from finishing the season with a triumph.
However, fortune turned out to be favorable already in the next draw of the European league. At LEC Summer 2022, Rogue took the TOP-3 in the group stage, and then played a rather difficult playoff: a victory over MAD Lions with a score of 3-2, a loss to G2 with a score of 0-3, a victory in the small final against Fnatic and finally – an undisputed championship with a victory over G2 (3-0).
Rogue attended Worlds 2022 in October of the season before last. No one had high hopes for them, but Rogue exceeded many expectations by reaching the playoffs. As a result of the tournament, the team took the TOP-8, which is an absolute success for residents of Europe.
- Rogue line-up: Adam, Malrang, Larssen, Patrix, Execute.
In the new season, the core of Koi is playing for Rogue, which is quite logical, since the club absorbed the slot of the Spanish organization.
In the first match, Rogue will face SK Gaming. I expect a victory in the first match for the “new” team in the LEC. Next is the game against Heretics, and it will clearly not be easier than the match with SK: the “heretics” look good, and their roster is probably one of the most combative in the new LEC. As a result, Rogue lost to Heretics, but they won against G2 Esports, who are considered the main favorites of the tournament, but then lost to SK Gaming.
Rogue went 1-2 in the first week, which is not good, but not critical either. But then things got much worse, which led Rogue to a 2-6 record before the start of the final match. And they lost it, thus taking the TOP-9.
LEC Spring 2024 Rogue failed. Just like in LEC Winter 2024, the team did not make it out of the group stage, finishing in the TOP-9. Things were not much better in LEC Summer 2024, where Rogue showed absolutely nothing: TOP-10.
Rogue went 1-2 in their debut week at LEC Winter 2025, which is better than I expected: they beat Heretics but lost to GiantX and BDS. They'll open the second week against Fnatic, then face Karmine Corp. They'll close the week against Vitality.
Most Popular Rogue Champions
The top was equally dominated by Ornn (4 matches, 25% wins), Gangplank (4 matches, 100% wins), Gnar (4 games, 50% wins), and Gwen (4 matches, 50% wins).
Wukong (4 matches, 75% wins), Vi (3 games, 33% wins), Trundle (3 matches, 33% wins) were picked into the jungle.
In the center we played with Azir (6 matches, 66% wins), Taliyah (4 games, 25% wins).
The ADC position was filled by Kalista (5 matches, 40% win rate), Ezrael (3 matches, 66% win rate), Sivir (3 matches, 66% win rate).
For support, the following were chosen: Renata Glasc (3 games, 33% wins), Rakan (3 matches, 100% wins), Nami (2 matches, 100% wins).
G2 vs Rogue Head-to-Head History
It is noteworthy that last season it was Rogue that became the “Achilles heel” of G2 Esports, winning 2 games out of 3 against the “samurai”.
Rogue vs. G2 Esports LEC Winter 2025 Predicted Result
My bet in this match is on G2 Esports. The Samurai should not make the mistakes of the past and must outplay Rogue given the slow and difficult start to the season.
Result: G2 wins.
