The LoL World Championship - League of Legends World Championship 2024 - is heating up. In case you've forgotten, the Swiss Stage, where all of the top competitors from Worlds 2024 will be playing.
Among the contenders for the next stage, play-offs LoL Worlds 2024, are place FlyQuest and GAM Esports. Both clubs will compete in the Swiss Stage with an in-person Bo1 match.
Let's see who of the pair FlyQuest - GAM Esports will be stronger and get to the basket 1-0, which will be a significant event for each club.
Let's go.
FlyQuest uniforms
Let's open the FlyQuest vs GAM Esports match with an analysis of FlyQuest's form. In this match they will play as favourites with odds to win at around 1.4.
FlyQuest have been on the professional scene since 2017. Back then, they were hanging around somewhere in the middle, ranking from top 7 to top 7.
The following years were also unsuccessful: in 2018 the peak was TOP-6 at LCS Summer 2018, then TOP-4 at LCS Spring already in 2019. The turning point was the 2020 season, when FlyQuest made it to the Worlds 2020 after twice making Top 2 at home. However, it wasn't too bad to take special heights there, though: TOP-12 for a FlyQuest ranked team can be considered a success.
In the season 2021 and 2022 the team played "standard" for themselves. The average was top-6.
At LCS Spring 2023, the team finished second in the group stage, losing to Cloud9. The team won the group stage with a score of 14-4.
- FlyQuest lineup: Bwipo, Inspired, Jensen, Massu, Busio.
The team lost to the leaders of the standings Cloud9, Evil Geniuses, Team Liquid and TSM. However, having played each of the teams twice, FlyQuest took one match each.
The team had no net defeats in the group stage. The team did not participate in any third-party events.
In the first match of the play-offs FlyQuest played with 100 Thieves. The opponent, who nominally could compete with FQ, was unable to take even a map: the match ended with a 3-0 defeat in favour of FlyQuest. After a successful Long Sogpeg, FlyQuest made it to the Top 3 before losing to Golden Guardians 2-3 in the finals match, thus being left out of Worlds 2023.
In 2024, FlyQuest made it to the LCS Top 2 and eventually made it to MSI 2024. Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2024 started off with a very surprising 2-1 win over PSG Talon. In the match to qualify for the Bracket Stage FlyQuest expectedly Ledge or T1 with a score of 0-2. And then there was a rematch of PSG Talon and FlyQuest left MSI 2024 on the 10th line.
At LCS Summer 2024 the team took the top 3 with the score 5-2. In the play-offs FlyQuest defeated NRG 3-1 and then very unexpectedly beat C9 3-1. By reaching the final of the top flight, they guaranteed themselves an appearance at Worlds 2024. The cherry on the cake was winning the grand final.

GAM Esports uniforms
We continue the analysis of the match GAM Esports - FlyQuest with the analysis of GAM form. In this match they will play as an outsider with odds to win around 2.4.
GAM Esports is one of the most titled teams in Vietnam with 5 wins in regional splits and several top 2 home league titles. At the last event, VCS Dawn 2023, GAM Esports had a very strong run in the play-offs, winning the group 14-0 in the series. GAM played well in the play-offs itself, giving up a total of 4 maps in 3 series.
Vietnam (VCS) - My region with an asterisk. Teams from there are capable of putting up a fight against the world's top League of Legends clubs, as demonstrated by GAM Esports during Worlds 2017, 2019, and even at Worlds 2022.
The peak of performance on the international stage remains 2017. That's when GAM Esports finished in the top 6 at the 2017 Mid-Season Invitational.
To repeat the success of 2017, it is mandatory to beat Rainbow7 in the upcoming confrontation. Everything seems to be in place for that to happen.
- GAM Esports lineup: Kiaya, Levi, Emo, EasyLove, Elio.
GAM has top performers by VCS standards, which is confirmed by the club's performance at home. However, they didn't help GAM to beat a more titled opponent, namely Golden Guardians, with whom GAM played in the first round of Play-In MSI 2023 and lost without much chance.
All in all, MSI 2023 ended very badly for GAM Esports. After losing in the first round, the Vietnamese unexpectedly defeated Rainbow7 in the first round of the lower grid, and therefore ignominiously left the championship at the Top 12.
The team made it to Worlds 2023 thanks to a win at the home VCS Dusk 2023. In the grand finals they easily beat Team Whales with a score of 3-1.
In the debut match at Worlds 2023 Gam Esports played against LOUD. The Brazilians proved to be stronger, although GAM put up a fight. The match ended with a score of 0-2 not in favour of GAM.
In the previous round GAM defeated Rainbow7. They defeated Rainbow7 on class (2-0), without giving space on any of the maps.
Next, GAM Esports played against the titular Brazilians LOUD. Being the underdogs they showed class and closed the series with a 2-0 score, sending one of the Play-In stage favourites home.
In the match to advance to the Worlds 2023 group stage, GAM Esports played against their regional counterparts from Team Whales. They closed the series 3-1 on the experience, thus becoming the first team at Worlds 2023 to make it past the Play-In stage.
Having met all the challenges of the Play-In, GAM Esports travelled to the group stage. The first opponent of GAM Esports was Gen.G, and then Fnatic. In general, there are no questions about the first game, but Fnatic could fight, but it didn't work out.
Being one step away from elimination GAM Esports showed a very spirited game in the match against Liquid. The North American team managed to take one card, but no more than that. However, GAM did not last long: in the next match the club faced the title representative of Korea, the team Dplus and, losing with a score of 0-2, left Worlds 2023.
In the 14th season of LoL, GAM triumphed at VCS Spring 2024, which allowed them to advance to the Mid-Season Invitational 2024. GAM played against Fnatic in the first round of Group B, but lost 0-2. Later, GAM would lose to Fnatic once again with a score of 0-2 and leave MSI 2024 at the top-10 stage.
Failure at MSI 2024 did not stop GAM from once again proving themselves on the home stage. The team won the VCS Summer Split, thus qualifying for Worlds 2024.
GAM Esports started the main tournament of the year with the Play-In stage, where they managed to qualify for the Swiss Stage on the top grid, beating Hawks and R7 without losing a card.

Previously, the teams have not played each other in official matches.
Predicted result of FlyQuest vs GAM Esports at Worlds 2024
As I said above, this match is very important for both clubs. All because of their overall level, because if they get someone from LPL, LCK or even LEC, most likely Long would be 0-1. Both teams will play their best, so I would give the win to GAM for the reason that they have a lot of experience in Play-In.
Bottom line: a win for GAM Esports.
