Welcome to EGamersWorld.
We continue to watch the events of LEC Spring 2025, where the group stage begins. At stake is not only the championship within the regional league, but also tickets to international tournaments - MSI 2025 and Esports World Cup 2025.
Among the contenders for all these significant prizes are KOI and G2 Esports. The teams will open their path through LEC Spring 2025 with a face-to-face match.
We will figure out how the G2 – KOI match will end and who will be stronger as a result.
Let's go.
Form G2
We open the analysis of the G2 – KOI match with an analysis of the game form of G2 Esports. In this match, they play as favorites with a coefficient of victory in the region of 1.5.
At the start of the 2023 season, the Samurai made it to the UK capital to participate in MSI 2023 after winning the LEC Winter draw. Then G2 made it to the grand final without any problems, and also beat MAD Lions quite easily
In the spring, at LEC Spring 2023, G2 Esports played worse. They advanced to the playoffs of the tournament from the second match of their group, getting into the lower bracket of the playoffs. Once there, they again played against the “lions”, but they were unable to repeat the success of the winter LEC: G2 Esports were eliminated from the LEC Spring 2023 playoffs, but got to the Mid-Season Invitational 2023.
- G2 Esports roster: BrokenBlade, SkewMond, Caps, Hans Sama, Labrov.
Play-In for G2 Esports was successful and even easier than for BLG. G2 Esports did not feel LOUD and easily closed PSG Talon, winning against both clubs with a score of 2-0.
Things weren't as rosy in the Bracket Stage. In the first round, G2 Esports played Gen.G, probably the main contender for the championship title, and managed to take a map from them, which is more than good in the reality of the modern competitive scene.
In the lower bracket, G2 Esports met their main rival, MAD Lions. The European derby on the international stage ended with a confident victory for G2, confirming their status as the best team in the LEC.
As a result of the only international event so far, G2 Esports took the TOP-6. The result is good.
Before the LEC Finals, the “samurai” took another cup to their headquarters. It was the trophy for winning LEC Summer 2023, where G2 easily dealt with EXCEL in the grand final.
In the first round of the LEC Finals 2023, G2 Esports played against Team BDS. The French put up a fight, but they couldn’t pull more than 1 map.
G2 Esports had no problem first taking on MAD Lions to reach the grand finals of the 2023 LEC Finals, and then took down Fnatic in the finals.
In their first match on the main stage of the year, G2 Esports played against Dplus. Being an underdog, the team managed to beat the title Koreans, all thanks to the signature Draven from Hans Sama. Then they managed to beat none other than WBG, who subsequently took the TOP-2.
But then the failures began, and quite serious ones at that. First they lost to Gen with a score of 0-2, then they lost to NRG with a score of 0-2 (which was a total shock), and finally they were eliminated from Worlds 2023 after losing to Bibili Gaming.
G2 Esports will start their journey to LEC Winter 2024 with a match against BDS, one of G2's main competitors on their way to the championship. We expect a confident game from G2. Next up is a match against Karmine Corp, which should be easier than the game against BDS. In fact, that's what happened, but the match against Rogue was perhaps the first sensation of last week, as G2 lost. Well, that's why it's bo1 and bo1.
During the regular season, LEC Winter 2024 demonstrated their standard game. G2 Esports won 7 out of 9 matches, sharing the TOP-1 of the table with BDS.
In the opening match of the LEC Winter 2024 playoffs, G2 Esports easily crushed GiantX with a score of 2-0. Then G2 Esports met Fnatic in the quarterfinals, where the “orange” looked pretty good: they were able to take the map, but this did not affect the outcome of the match. Then G2 Esports met BDS in the match for the exit to the grand final and without a single hitch smashed the French with a score of 3-0. Almost the same fate awaited MAD Lions KOI in the grand final, with a difference of only one map.
G2 Esports attended the Mid-Season Invitational 2024 and showed a very solid result there. They managed to reach the TOP-4, and this is a pretty high result for a team from the LEC.
Heading into the Esports World Cup 2024, G2 Esports secured a spot in the LEC Summer 2024 playoffs. At EWC 2024 itself, G2 Esports started off with a win over FlyQuest, but then lost to TES in the grand finals.
LEC Summer 2024 Playoffs started with a fairly confident victory over Karmine Corp with a score of 2-0. Then, an equally easy victory over BDS and, as a result, reaching the TOP-3. In the match for reaching the grand final of the LEC Summer 2024 upper bracket, G2 Esports played against Fnatic, where they lost with a score of 2-3. In the match of the lower bracket, they defeated BDS with a score of 3-2, and then became champions of LEC Summer 2024, defeating Fnatic in the final.
The 2024 LEC Season Finals started with an unexpected loss to MAD Lions KOI (2-3). However, this did not stop G2 from coming back through the lower bracket, outplaying all opponents and eventually becoming the champions of the 2024 LEC Season Finals.
The debut at Worlds 2024 happened in a match with paiN Gaming, where G2 was stomped by the Yone + Yasuo combination. In the next match, against the LCK Summer 2024 champions from Hanwha Life Esports, the tricks did not work and G2 lost. But they got into the 2-1 bracket, winning WBG in a fairly confident manner. However, they then lost to T1 and BLG, flying out to the TOP-12.
The LEC Winter 2025 group stage was 6-3 and took 3rd place. In principle, this is not bad, but remembering G2's performance last season, we should expect a completely different game in the playoffs, a higher quality one. In the first round of the playoffs, they showed exactly this game: they beat GiantX with a score of 2-0 without much chance for the latter. In the second round of the playoffs' upper bracket, they completely defeated Fnatic, G2's main competitor in the LEC. Then - a victory over Karmine Corp with a score of 3-1. In the grand final, there was a rematch against Karmine Corp, where G2 literally "flew away", losing with a score of 0-3.

KOI Form
We continue our analysis of the KOI – G2 match with an analysis of KOI’s game form. In this match, they are playing as underdogs with a win odds of around 2.3.
KOI has long been “inside” the LEC ecosystem and sometimes they get into the main tournament, that is, the LEC, and sometimes they get kicked out. For example, last season KOI, in fact, was under the name MAD Lions. If we talk about KOI as a separate organization, then everything is quite modest there.
- KOI lineup: Myrwyn, Elyoya, Jojopyun, Supa, Alvaro.
In the 2023 season, KOI participated in the LEC. They did not achieve any particular success. After a top performance at LEC Winter 2023, where KOI took TOP-3, they were TOP-6 and TOP-8 at LEC Spring 2023 and LEC Summer 2023, respectively. However, KOI's roster is quite combative, since the core of MAD Lions remained, and they were once a pretty strong competitor for top teams like G2 and Fnatic.
After their comeback to the big stage of League of Legends, KOI showed themselves to be excellent in the group stage of LEC Winter 2025. The team played it back with a score of 6-3, sharing the position with G2 and Karmine Corp. Finding themselves in the playoffs of LEC Winter 2025, KOI beat BDS with a score of 2-0, but then lost to Karmine Corp with a score of 2-0. In the lower bracket of the main stage, they beat GiantX with a score of 0-2. Then they overtook GiantX, but in the next match they lost to Fnatic, taking the TOP-4 at the end of LEC Winter 2025.
Most Popular MAD Lions Champions
Fiora (2 matches, 100% wins) and K'Sante (2 matches, 50% wins) appeared most often in the top for MAD Lions. Renekton (1 game, 100% wins) and Gnar (1 game and that was a loss) were also taken.
Sejuani is popular in the jungle (3 matches, 66% win rate), followed by Wukong with 2 appearances and 50% win rate, and then there was Maokai, who won his only match.
In the mid lane, Viktor (1-1) and Akali (1-1) have 2 matches each. Azir and Sylas won their matches.
Of the marksmen, Varus was the most frequently picked (3 matches, 66% win rate). Lucian was picked 2 times (1-1) and Sivir was picked once (1-0).
Thresh (1-1), Lulu (1-1) were the most frequently chosen heroes for the marksman. Nami and Ashe, who appeared once each, won their matches.
KOI vs G2 Esports Head-to-Head History
The teams previously played each other at LEC Winter 2025. G2 won that match.
Predicted G2 vs KOI Match Result at LEC Spring 2025
I expect a confident victory for G2 in this match. The Samurai will definitely play to the fullest, especially after the disappointing loss in the LEC Winter 2025 finals.
Result: G2 wins.
