Welcome back to EGamersWorld.
We continue our breakdown of the final, third round of DPC 2023 in Western Europe with a betting tier on the OG - Tundra Esports match. A crucial clash will close out the first game day of the league.
Both clubs are just starting their journey to the top of the Western European Dota in the third season of DPC 2023. The two teams need a win as 1,150 DPC points are at stake, critical to qualifying for The International 2023, where neither OG nor Tundra Esports are direct qualifiers at the moment.
Let's try to see which team will be stronger in their debut match at DPC 2023 WEU Upper Division Tour 3 and earn their first points in the standings.
Tundra Esports uniforms
Let's start with the analysis of the game form of Tundra Esports. In this match, the reigning world champions of The International 2022 will play in the status of favorites.
Bookmakers believe in the success of Tundra, and the odds on their victory are at 1.4. We have no choice but to explain the situation.
We can start with Tundra's regional successes and basically end with them. Tundra Esports has several big achievements for the 2023 season, namely third place at DPC 2023: WEU Upper Division Tour 1, and also top 2 at DPC 2023: WEU Upper Division Tour 2.
The last season, also Tour 2, Tundra did quite well. The International 2022 champions reached the top 2 after replay, where they beat Gaimin Gladiators, which is a real achievement this year.
However, success in a regional league does not equal good fortune on the international stage. Tundra have felt this perfectly throughout the season.
- Tundra Eposrts line-up: skiter, Nine, 33, Saksa, Sneyking.
First was The Lima Major 2023, where Tundra went in a status of one of the pretenders to win, because the current champions of The International and everything, but happened 9-12th place and the departure of Aster.
The second Major of the tournament, already home ESL One Berlin Major 2023 went a little bit better, but not to the level of the top team. In Berlin, Tundra finished in the TOP-6 stage losing to Major finalists Team Liquid.
Then there was DreamLeague Season 19, where Tundra had their best performance on the international stage since The International 2022. There, the 33 team reached the top 4 and lost to Shopify Rebellion with a substitution.
Tundra Esports' most popular characters
The most chosen character for Tundra Esports was Mirana at position 5. She appeared 7 times and has a 71% win rate, with Dragon Knight and Pangolier each picking 5 times without losing a match.
Rili and Nightstalker are considered unique picks by Tundra Esports. The team picks them at the core position, with Riki in the centre and NS in the first position. Both heroes have appeared 2 times each and have a 100% win rate.
Tundra have a very wide character pool: they can play Dragon Knight in the first position or Night Stalker in the same role.
Although Tundra have tried to play experimentally, it hasn't helped them much in earning wins and winning. Let's see if Tundra can adapt to the third round of DPC 2023 and earn points.
Now let's talk about Tundra Esports' opponent, OG.
OG Form
We continue the breakdown of the Tundra vs OG match with an analysis of the latter's playing form. In this match, they will play in the status of the outsider.
Bookmakers estimate the odds of winning OG with odds in the region of 2.8. The two-fold gap to Tundra can be attributed to OG's performance.
After a successful year last year where OG claimed the Major and won the ESL One Malaysia commercial event, the 2023 season saw the team get bogged down and the club's results went downhill.
DPC OG finished in 5th place in the opening round, which sent them to the next round of the regional league without a chance to prove themselves in the first Major event of the season. Having missed out on Lima, the squad began to prepare diligently for the next round of the Regional League by rotating the squad: instead of captain Misha, coach Chu took over fifth place.
- OG squad: Yuragi, bzm, DM, Taiga, Chu.
With such a roster OG played in TOP 4 of DPC 2023: WEU Upper Division Tour II and had to go to Berlin Major, but DM and Chu could not get visa in Germany and missed the event.
Perhaps this was good for the club as with the arrival of MC and Kitrak the team flourished and even reached the top 6 of the tournament, which can be considered a good result in this season.
I wonder how quickly DM and Chu will regain their lost form and make it through the process of reintegration into the team.
The most popular OG characters
Among favorite OG characters: Keeper of the Light (6 matches, 83% wins), Phantom Lancer (5 matches, 60% wins).
Among the most successful: Crystal Maiden (4 games, 100% wins), Underlord (4 matches, 100% wins), Alchemist (3 matches, 100% wins), Storm Spirit (3 matches, 100% wins), Storm Spirit (3 matches, 100% wins), Void Spirit (3 matches, 100% wins).
Here the situation is ambiguous and all because of line-up rotations. I can't claim that OG will play about the same, but the likelihood is high. By the way, for Doom in spades will be a struggle, because both DM and 33 love to go on a scavenger hunt with Midas and Devourer.
History of head-to-head encounters between Tundra and OG
The teams have played at least 5 times during the season. Tundra has won 3 times and two games have ended in a draw.
Result of the match
The most obvious outcome for me in this matchup will be a total of +2.5. The recent games of the clubs hint at this, and the Long Corner of the season is clearly not in favour of the two sides. These are the kind of teams that accelerate as they go, so I expect a close game here.
Bottom line: total +2.5.
