The first match of the day for a spot in the First Stand 2026 playoffs was between Gen.G and LYON. The match was played in a Bo5 format using Fearless Draft. The winner automatically secures a top-4 finish, while the loser drops to the lower bracket, where they will have one last chance to advance to the playoffs.

A flawless first map from Gen.G ended at the 25-minute mark with a 10,000 gold lead. Gen.G did not concede a single objective to LYON. leaving them with no chance to make any proactive plays in this match. The score is now 1:0 in favor of Gen.G.

The second map was much more intriguing thanks to Inspire's performance on Viego. Throughout the early game, by racking up kills and catching Gen.G out of position, LYON managed to find success playing around Viego's power. However, a couple of mistakes from LYON's fed champions opened the door for Gen.G's comeback. Because the initial gap was small, Gen.G was able to quickly accelerate their lead and close out yet another game in 25 minutes. This was largely because LYON struggled heavily in team fights. In my opinion, picking Aatrox would have been much better for LYON in terms of 5v5 fighting. But it seems LYON banked on a snowball draft that they couldn't fully execute.

The third game was completely under Gen.G's control. LYON made some attempts to put up a fight, but Gen.G delivered another flawless performance, closing the game out in 25 minutes. They maintained total objective control, with their micro and macro play at the highest level.

Gen.G advances to the First Stand 2026 Playoffs, becoming the second team to qualify. LYON drops to the lower bracket, where they will face the winner of the JD Gaming vs. LOUD matchup in an elimination match.
